I Want the Same Kitchen as the One in Seattle’s Book Larder

Book Larder is a Black-owned and woman-owned independent bookstore specializing in cookbooks and food writing in Seattle, WA.

Located in the Fremont neighborhood, north of downtown Seattle, Book Larder serves as a community gathering space for people to experience:

  • author talks and demonstrations (in-person and on YouTube)
  • cooking classes
  • cookbook launch parties
  • and book club meetups

My favorite part of the bookstore

The demonstration kitchen!

From the open shelving to the colorful dutch oven and the roomy island, this is my dream kitchen set up.

It really felt like I was in someone’s home, moments away from sharing an amazing pot roast (followed by peach cobbler with caramel drizzle and cinnamon swirl ice cream) and catching up with a good friend.

Use the Events calendar to find out about their next cooking class or author event.

What I bought

Pressed for time and lacking space in my luggage, I decided on Ashanté M. Reese’s newly-released Gather: Black Food, Nourishment, and the Art of Togetherness and a Book Larder sticker for my post-travel journaling session.

I have my eye on Treasury of Southern Bakery by Cheryl Day and Robin Wall Kimmerer’s The Service Berry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World.

Good thing you can order online and have the books shipped to you worldwide.
