Must Try Matcha Desserts for Your Cafe Hopping Adventures
Sweet tooth or not, nothing’s better than your favorite dessert. And the average person has a few favorites. But do you have some go-to matcha desserts?

Matcha’s rise in popularity world wide doesn’t stop with lattes.
Matcha ice cream, crepe cakes, cheesecake, brownies – you name it, someone on Instagram or TikTok has posted a recipe for it.
But if you’re not much of a baker and/or you cannot seem to get your hands on a good green tea because of the matcha shortage, here’s a list of matcha desserts you can look for and try in your city.
Matcha desserts you absolutely need to try
1. Matcha pound cake with red bean chantilly cream from O:HU bakeshop in Raleigh, NC

2. Level 5 matcha ice cream from Nanaya Kyoto Sanjo in Kyoto (they also have a Tokyo location)

3. Matcha cheesecake from nana’s green tea (in Kyoto but there are several locations in the U.S., such as Seattle and NYC)

4. Matcha Ice cream (soft serve) from Walden Woods in Kyoto, Japan

5. Vegan matcha cookie with adzuki beans from THE MATCHA TOKYO

6. Bear matcha cake from Luna Cafe & Laundry in Tokyo

Wait, why are most of these matcha desserts from cafes and bakeries in Tokyo & Kyoto, Japan?
Honestly, I didn’t really get into these kinds of desserts until I started cafe hopping in Japan.
I encourage you to visit your local bakeries, restaurants and ice cream shops to see what kinds of matcha desserts they have.
If they don’t have any, don’t be afraid to ask. If enough customers ask, then they’ll definitely consider putting these sweets on their menu.
