It’s 2 Years After They Closed Gundam Factory Yokohama and I’m Still Mad
Every Gundam fan dreams of seeing a life-sized mobile suit in their lifetime. Especially, one that moves. Anyone who went to Gundam Factory Yokohama made that dream a reality.

But now, it’s closed.
This is a quick recap AKA a photo dump of my visit to Gundam Factory Yokohama back in early 2024.
Quick facts about Gundam Factory Yokohama
It’s an ‘entertainment facility’ that not only housed the life-sized RX-78F00 Gundam at the GUNDAM-DOCK but also the GUNDAM-LAB for learning the history of the franchise and Gundam Base Yokohama Satellite for purchasing merch.

The RX-78F00 Moving Gundam is four stories tall and provided performances every 30 minutes which could even be seen from outside the complex across Yamashita Park.
The facility finally closed in March 2024 after pushing back the date multiple times.
What I ordered at Gundam Cafe Yokohama Satellite
Many years ago when the Gundam Cafe in Akihabara was still around, I could never make it in time to order actual food because everything but drinks were sold out.
For once, the menu wasn’t riddled with ‘sold out’ signs.
For lunch, I bought:
- chicken curry: ¥1430
- french fries: ¥800
- and the hot matcha latte: ¥800

Hot drinks like the matcha and chocolate latte had at least two different types of latte art to choose from.
What else was on the menu at Gundam Cafe Yokohama Satellite?
There were several bentos (lunch boxes), a pancake meal, hot dogs, burgers, smoothies and desserts like ice cream and pudding.
If I could go back, I’d get
- BLT burger: ¥1650
- Acai berry smoothie: ¥850
- HARO steamed bun with red bean past: ¥550

What I bought from Gundam Base Yokohama (the merch store)
I remember searching the store for snacks and couldn’t find anything but after looking at the merch list, I’m realizing that all the chocolates and cookies were sold out.
So, I ended up buying:
- Official book: ¥1320
- RX-78F00 Gundam folder: ¥660
- RX-78F00 Gundam sticker: I don’t remember the price
Some of the model kits, of various grades, were at this store but I didn’t have any room in my luggage.

Tickets & prices
Tickets for admission:
- Adults (13 years old and over): ¥1650
- Kids: ¥1100
Tickets for viewing the Moving Gundam from the Dock Tower were an additional ¥3300.
Address
The facility’s former address is Yamashita Pier in Yamashita Park:
Yamashitacho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0023, Japan
